What a brilliant year

The lovely WordPress team have just sent us our annual report summarising our year on the blog. Everything we’ve achieved this year is all down to you, our readers, and we thought it only fair to show you what you’ve helped us do in 2012.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 72,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

2012 – What a wonderful year

We’ve had a great year here on Push Them Wide since returning in late March, and we’ve churned out 36 posts since then. We started the blog to have somewhere where we could both write exactly what we wanted to and when we wanted to write it, and this year we’ve managed to do that and have thousands of people read what we have to say.

I think this year we’ve seen a rather sizeable shift away from plug-and-play tactics towards more intelligent tactical discussion and we hope that this continues. As a blog, in our small part of the FM community, we’ve heard from a lot of players who’ve admitted that they’ve changed their way of playing which is awesome to see, and it’s really good to see that more people are reading our posts and listening to what we have to say.

And it’s not just us – there are now a great array of FM blogs that offer tactical ideas and discussion – like FMAnalysis, FM Veteran, FM Old Skool and FM Focus. I can’t remember any previous year when there has been so much readily available tactical content and there’s no sign of it stopping in 2013.

It’s been an awesome 2012. We would like to thank every single person who has read, liked, rated, commented, shared, retweeted and favourited any of our posts, because its you who keep us going. We stopped posting our articles on fan sites because very few people read them, and now we’re lucky enough to have an audience of thousands who want to hear our views. It’s an incredible feeling that we can’t quite believe, but every inch of it is because you guys are so great and supportive. A huge thanks to all of you.

Special thanks go to:

Sean, for being the best co-blogger I could hope for
Lee, for helping us from the very start
Cleon, for working with us and sharing our stuff wherever he can
Shrewnaldo, for retweeting everything that we post
Paul and Tom from Golden FM, for being more than just an FM account
Henrik, for being our longest standing supporter and promoting content abroad
